Stephen Appiah is hoping his club future will be sorted out this week after making his return to competitive football with Ghana on Friday.

Amidst all the gloom that descended on the Ghana camp in Tripoli, Appiah's return to the field after ten months out ranked as a major positive and now the Black Stars captain is hoping to cap all that by sorting out his club career this week.

Appiah is hoping for clearance from FIFA as a free agent and then a move to the English Premiership where West Ham with their strong Italian connection are said to be favourites to grab him.

Curiously the Black Stars captain flew to London after the Ghana game and told KickOffGhana.com that, "by the close of the week, I will see where I am going to play my club football."

Appiah feels he will get back to his good old self and says the long spell on the pitch in Ghana's game against the Libyans has boosted his confidence.

"It was not bad and I was satisfied, he said of his comeback game. After being off for ten months, I enjoyed every bit of it."

But he knows he still has a great deal of work to do before reaching full match fitness. "I realize I have a lot of work to do because I struggled at times. It's different when you run and when have to play a competitive game.

"A proper game involves a lot of movement and there were times when I could not cope with the pace. There were times when I was kept going on pure determination."
