Appiah eager to keep on going

Stephen Appiah has stated his desire to return to his best form after making his debut for Serbian side Vojvodina and has rejected suggestions that his career is on the wane.

The former Ghana captain played his first game for Vojvodina last Sunday when they were held to a 0-0 draw by Radnicki in the country’s top league.

Appiah moved to Serbian in a shock deal last month following stints for top clubs in Italy and Turkey after recovering from a serious knee injury.

He struggled to find a club since leaving Italian side Cesena at the end of last season but his performance in his debut for Vojvodina has revived hopes for the future.

Appiah is confident that he will regain his form that once made him one of Africa's best players in Europe.

"I am very happy with the performance I put up on Sunday and my coaches and team-mates and happy with my form," Appiah told Ghana Football, the GFA's official newspaper, exclusively from his base in Serbia.

"I want to continue like this to bring good results to Vojvodina and also to continue on my path to being in the best shape.

"I am sure that with my training and performances like in Sunday's match you will see the old Stephen Appiah. I am hoping for God's guidance in this path."

Appiah is yet to return to full fitness after recovering from a career threatening injury he suffered while playing for Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
