Appiah hosts top stars for Peace Match

Scores of football stars, from across the globe, have confirmed their participation in a grand soccer fiesta, geared towards ensuring peaceful elections in the country this year.

The game, which is the brainchild of ex-Black Stars Skipper, Stephen Appiah, is being organized by Primeval Media, who are luminaries when it comes to the organization of sports events.

Stephen Appiah would lead the world stars to play against Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a friendly game at the Baba Yara stadium on June 8. The world stars would also lock horns with the Blacks Stars in Accra on June 11,

Among the famous football stars that have confirmed their participation for the two games are Sol Campbell, George Boateng, Jermaine Defoe, Patrick Kluivert, Clerence Seedorf and Emille Heskey.

The rest are Floyd Hasslebank, Edgar Davids, Simao Sabrosso, Nunu Gomez, JJ Okocha, Nwakwo Kanu and Kalilu Fadiga, among other top notch football stars selected all over the world.

Jeffrey Asare, Director of Communications, Primeval Media, said the world stars would arrive in the country on June 6 and travel to Kumasi the next day to pay homage to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

He said the world stars would travel back to Accra on June 9 after facing Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi a day earlier, to prepare for the crunch encounter with the Black Stars on June 11.

Aside the football games, he disclosed that, Stephen Appiah would be visiting the ten regions of the country to preach peace, especially to the youth, so that the upcoming polls would be an incident-free affair.

Jeffrey Asare said Stephen Appiah is embarking on this patriotic mission as a way of giving back to society for what the country had done for him via football, urging soccer fans to patronize the upcoming games.
