Black Stars Coach Kwesi Appiah, was expected in Accra yesterday after holidays in London to seal a two-year contract extension with the Black Stars.
The 54-year-old spent few weeks in London with his family to cool down following the country’s poor finish at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The man, nicknamed ‘silent killer’, failed to guide the Black Stars to progress from the group phase of the global showpiece after suffering two defeats and recording a draw.
Despite the massive failure, the Ghana Football Association(GFA) has decided to keep faith with the trainer by offering him an improved two-year deal.
However, media reports in Ghana have claimed the country’s Sports Ministry has asked the soccer authorities to freeze his contract extension proposal pending further consultations.
Appiah became the first indigenous coach to guide the Africans to the World Cup after previous feats were achieved by Serbians.
