Appiah linked with move to Roma

ROME, July 25 (SW) - Ghanaian international Stephen Appiah has been linked with a move to Roma, according to the player?s agent.

The Fenerbah?e midfielder is still tied to a three-year contract with his club and was only thought to favour a move to Premiership club Arsenal. He commented on any move some weeks ago saying, ?I don?t want to go to Italy again. I prefer Arsenal ? they are my number one choice.?

However the player?s agent, Frank Trimboli spoke of Roma?s desire to sign the player stating, ?Roma are a big club, one of the most important in Europe and Stephen could do well there.

?After the World Cup there has been a lot of interest. Roma have made enquiries and I have spoken to them.?

The black stars captain has some understanding of Italian football as his career has already seen play for Udinese, Parma, Brescia and Juventus.

Appiah played an important role for Ghana in this summers World Cup as the African nation qualified for the last 16 of the tournament.
