Arsenal Reject Muntari

Inter have £28.7m plus Sulley Muntari offer for Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas rejected - report

Inter have failed in an attempt to land Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal after their latest offer for the midfielder was rejected, according to Sportmediaset.it.

Sporting director Marco Branca reportedly offered the Gunners €35 million (£28.7m) plus Ghana international Sulley Muntari.

But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger would not be pushed into bowing to pressure from the Milanese giants and he rejected the offer.

This coming just hours after Rafael Benitez spoke publicly about his desire to bring a top star to the club with the emphasis on a midfielder after he witnessed Javier Mascherano head to Barcelona.

And with Wenger resisting offers from all over Europe for the Spanish ace, Inter have now turned their attention to Fiorentina's Riccardo Montolivo.

The Italian is valued between €15m (£12.3m) and €20m (£16.4m), but Fiorentina have already said they have no plans to sell their star players, leaving Benitez with few options and even less time to land a player a day before the shutters come down on the transfer window.?

It is no wonder Arsenal are desperate to keep hold of Cesc Fabregas. The World Cup winner is rated by the Castrol Rankings as the 25th best player currently plying his trade in one of the top five leagues in Europe, while Muntari is down in 1328th place.
