Arsene Wenger has categorically ruled out a possible move for free agent and Ghana international Stephen Appiah.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with the 27-year-old who is available outside the transfer window having been released by Fenerbahce prior to the end of August.
Harry Redknapp had even hinted that his interest in the player would be scuppered by a rival offer from Arsenal, while West Ham have also confirmed that they are considering signing the midfielder.
However, Wenger insists that Appiah will not be heading to Emirates Stadium.
“No, we are not on the case,” Wenger told a press conference on Thursday.
Arsenal were expected to sign a holding midfielder over the summer after losing Mathieu Flamini and Gilberto Silva, but Wenger opted to place his faith in Abou Diaby and Denilson who are expected to share the burden of partnering Cesc Fabregas.
