Arsenal beat Hammers to Appiah?

Arsenal Football Club are being tipped to win the race for Stephen Appiah. The Ghanaian international midfielder looks set to leave Fenerbahce this summer two years after moving to Turkey from Juventus, and he is keen to pit his skills in the English Premiership.

West Ham United were believed to be leading the chase for the 26-year-old, yet the player is said to be willing to snub a move to Upton Park as he hears of reported interest from the Gunners.

A friend of Appiah is quoted in the News of the World: “Arsenal are aware they will have to pay £6million - £8million for Stephen. That price was talked about last January with Arsenal and it really won’t be an issue.”
