SUPPORTERS of Berekum Arsenals poured into the streets of Berekum in their numbers yesterday to demonstrate against the GFA Appeals Committee ruling declaring them losers in their first round Star Premier league match against Kotoko at Berekum, which ended 1-1.

They described the decision as outrageous and declared their intention to support the management of the club in its quest to fight to ensure that they get back the points they lost to Kotoko "through that dubious decision".

They also challenged the Appeals Committee to publish its decision on the matter to enable the general public to know how they arrived at the decision.

The demonstrators who wore red bands carried placards some of which read, "terrorism in Ghana football",, "our football is being politicized and "zero tolerance for football politics."

At the time of going to press, the demonstrators were on their way to Berekum District Administration to present a resolution to the district chief executive.

Speaking to the Graphic the organizer of the supporters union, Mr Joe Debrah, said the ruling of the appeals committee has shown that Kotoko are bent on using their influence to win points which they do not deserve.

He expressed surprise as to how a player who had been cleared by the GFA Player Status Committee could be declared ineligible to play for a team in the country.

It would be recalled that the Appeals Committee of the GFA, last Tuesday upheld a protest by Asante Kotoko against Berekum Arsenals for fielding an unqualified player, George Brown, in their match at Berekum.

The Disciplinary Committee of the GFA had earlier dismissed the Kotoko protest with the explanation that the player had been cleared by the GFA Status Committee to play.

With the decision, Arsenals are to lose four points while Kotoko gain two more points and three goals.
