Asamoah Gyan has through his yet to be fully operational Asamoah Gyan Foundation, donated $3,000 (three thousand US Dollars) cash to his former coach at Liberty Professionals Jones Attuquayefio as contribution to the celebration of the career of the now ailing Attuquayefio.
“Asamoah believes Jones Attuquayefio had the biggest impact on his career. He made him play in the Ghana Premier League at 17 years and also brought him into the limelight and gave him confidence and self-belief. It’s the least he can do,” explained Asamoah Gyan Foundation CEO Sammy Anim Addo.
Attuquayefio was present himself last Friday at the Accra Stadium where members of his Hearts of Oak side that won the African Champions League drew 3-3 with a select Black Stars side in a game which also helped raise funds to support the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
The celebrated coach was overwhelmed with the love and emotions on display and offered appreciation: “During my long career as a footballer, an administrator and a coach, I enjoyed a lot of support from the sporting fraternity. But in this celebration of my career, the nation showed me love beyond measure.
“I am very grateful to every Ghanaian and indeed every individual who made it to my testimonial match and those who supported it from a far.”Credit: Prince Dornu-Leiku
