The 2024 Olympic Games football tournament kicks off on July 24, 2024, with all four African representatives in action.

Mali, Guinea, Morocco, and Egypt are the four countries representing Africa after Ghana failed to qualify.

Ghana has gone two decades without playing at the Olympics, with their last outing coming in 2004 in Greece.

Ghana's last appearance in the Olympic football tournament saw an exceptionally talented Black Meteors squad that would go on to become global and continental superstars.

Led by Portuguese manager Mariano Barreto, Ghana's squad included George Owu, Nasir Lamine, Baffour Gyan, Emmanuel Osei, John Mensah, Emmanuel Pappoe, Abubakari Yahuza, Charles Asampong Taylor, Kwasi Poku, Stephen Appiah, Patrick Villars, Asamoah Gyan, Razak Pimpong, John Paintsil, Daniel Coleman, William Kwabena Tiero, Yussif Chibsah, and Mohammed Alhassan.

Ghana could not make it out of their group, which was made up of Paraguay, Italy, and Japan.

The Black Meteors finished third with the same points as Italy, but the European side progressed on account of more goals scored.
