Asamoah Gyan doubtful for Senegal, Mali friendlies

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is doubtful for next week’s friendlies against Senegal and Mali because of an infection that has ruled him out of action for his UAE club Al Ain.

Al Ain have travelled to Uzbekistan to face Pakhtakor in the Asian Champions League on Wednesday without their lead Ghanaian striker Gyan.

This means if the ailment extends he will be unable to travel to France to join the Black Stars from early next week when camping begin.

The infection looks serious to the point that Al Ain have decided to exclude him from their squad for the tough encounter in the Asian Champions League

The Arabian Gulf League leaders have drawn their first two group games — against Al Shabab and Naft Tehran — and will face group leaders Pakhtakor on Wednesday.

However, Al Ain will have to do so without Gyan, who was ruled out with an infection.

“Not in the team for the trip to Tashkent to face Pakhtakor,” Gyan wrote on his Twitter page. “Wishing my @alainfcae teammates the best of luck.”

Gyan was in tremendous form during the 2014 Asian Champions League, leading the scoring charts with 12 goals as Al Ain reached the semi-finals.

The Ghana forward has scored 11 goals in the Arabian Gulf League this season to help Al Ain to top of the table, four points clear of Al Jazira.
