“I was playing at the (Liberty) Academy till the late Jones Attuquayefio was appointed, so I was with the second team and he saw me training with the Academy one time, he stopped and watched me and told the late Sly Tetteh he wanted me to join the senior team,” Gyan said in an interview with GTV Sports plus.
“So I was promoted together with Michael Helegbe, we were playing the top four by then and played a game against Hearts of Oak so Jones called me from the bench and told me I should do what I know how to do best and that he had so much believed in me. He introduced me into the game and that was it. So I owe him a lot, he gave me my breakthrough.
“He started all this and he is part of this great story. Wherever his now I thank him a lot.”
