Founder of Baby Jet Promotions, Asamoah Gyan has dished out an amount of $400,000 to arrange an IBO World Lightweight fight to Ghana.
The Ghana Black Stars skipper whose Baby Jet Promotion has secured a World title bout between Ghana’s Emmanuel Tagoe ‘Gameboy’ Tagoe and David ‘El Vasco’ Saucedo of Argentina set for November 25, 2016.
Speaking at the launch of the bout, president of the Baby Jet Promotion, Samuel Anim Addo said “We are proud to currently host a world title bout in the country some 28 years after Ghanaians were privileged to watch Azumah Nelson defeat Brazilian
Sydney del Rovere at the Accra Stadium on 10th December 1988. This fight has been dubbed ‘Fist of Destiny’ and we are hopeful ‘Gameboy’ will win this bout.
‘‘We have spent almost $400,000 in bringing the World title to Ghana. We hope you will help us so we can crown ‘Gameboy’ Tagoe on the day as the new champion. We are also trying to secure the vacant WBA World title in addition to the IBO for the bout. We call on corporate Ghana to come to our aid as well as the support of Ghanaians’’.
Boxing Judge Eddie Pappoe of the Ghana Boxing Authority in his address said “Gameboy will emerge a super champion. I have no doubt in my mind. I appeal to the fans to come and see this historic fight’’.
Emmanuel ‘Gameboy’ Tagoe also told the media, “I thank Eddie Pappoe for discovering me. This is the time to prove myself that I am the Gameboy. I will dedicate this fight to my brother Emmanuel Commey”.
Gyan has long been a boxing enthusiast and his investment in the sport cannot be overlooked especially in recent years
