Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan has unveiled the first phase of the 300,000 dollars sports facility he constructed for his alma mater, Accra Academy.
The ceremony saw the convergence of distinguished personalities like former President Rawlings, Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah, old and current students of the school as well as some musicians.
Asamoah Gyan expressed his gratitude to the school and also highlighted some of the charity works his foundation has embarked on.
The sports minister lauded Asamoah Gyan for his patriotic works and called on other footballers to emulate the actions of the Black Stars skippers.
The commissioning of the pitch which is christened Asamoah Gyan Sports Centre was marked with a football match between Team Gyan and the Professional Footballers.
The ceremonial game ended in a pulsating 1-1 draw.
The newly built Astro-turf boast of tartan tracks, dressing rooms and floodlights.
