Asamoah to stay at Udinese

World Cup star Kwadwo Asamoah has pledged his immediate future to Udinese, but maintains that a move elsewhere may still happen in the future.

The highly-rated midfielder had been linked with a number of Premier League clubs before the tournament in South Africa.

And the 21-year-old's performances for Ghana on Black Stars' way to the quarter-finals were expected to prompt further interest.

But with no new offers forthcoming, Asamoah has vowed to stay with the Bianconeri - at least for another year.

"I expected some news on my return but I'm still here, as I thought," he said. "(Gaetano) D'Agostino and (Simone) Pepe have gone, but I have seen that there are other good players.

"We have a good team, also thanks to the returns of (Antonio) Candreva and (Giampiero) Pinzi.

"After the World Cup I rested for two or three weeks at home.

"The future? I'll stay here a year. Here I'm peaceful and happy, and I can improve."
