Asante Kotoko are considering relocating to the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi for the 2024/25 season due to the temporary closure of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for renovations.

The National Sports Authority (NSA) announced a one-month closure following Ghana's recent 1-0 defeat to Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which drew attention to the stadium's poor pitch quality.

The loss, which ended a 24-year unbeaten streak at Baba Yara, has raised concerns about the playing surface, prompting Kotoko to explore the possibility of moving their home fixtures to Len Clay Stadium.

This potential relocation would affect their scheduled home games against Nsoatreman FC and Young Apostles, initially planned for the early rounds of the Ghana Premier League season.

Kotoko have engaged in discussions with AngloGold Ashanti regarding the move and is currently in advanced talks. The facilities at Len Clay Stadium have been inspected, and final approval from the Ghana Football Association is pending.

Additionally, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has banned Baba Yara Stadium from hosting international matches until necessary upgrades are made to meet international standards. This situation has left Ghana exploring various options as they prepare for their upcoming AFCON qualifier against Sudan.

Asante Kotoko's management is keen to ensure that the team has a suitable venue to play their home games, and the Len Clay Stadium could provide a viable alternative during the renovation period at Baba Yara.
