Ghana’s only contender in the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup, Asante Kotoko have arrived home from Cameroon after their impressive and gallant 3-2 victory over Coton Sport in the final playoffs of Africa’s second-tier club competition.

The team received a rousing welcome from the media as well as the Supporters Union of Ghana when they touched down at the newly built Terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaking to the media on arrival, captain of the side Amos Frimpong praised his teammates and technical staff for their effort that contributed to their success in Cameroon. He disclosed that the team is not going to be complacent ahead of the second leg tie this weekend.

Coach C.K Akonnor called on the fans of the club to throng the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in their numbers on Sunday to cheer the Porcupine’s on their 2nd leg encounter.

“There’s always pressure but we will deal with it, but we will want them to support us positively. Sometimes when things are not well, we cannot do without them, it’s important they come and support us.”

The CEO of Kotoko, George Amoako immensely praised coach Akonnor for putting up a splendid side in Cameroon and caution supporters to patient with the coach as he builds a formidable team for the CAF Confederation Cup.

“The coach has done so well, he told us the opponents will be fragile in the opening minutes of the game so the players must capitalize on that and score early goals and it really work. I urge all the fans to be patient with him.

He added that, “We knew we were going to do well and qualify to the money zone, we are almost there so let’s get there and see what happens.”

Goals from Emmanuel Gyamfi, Maxwell Baakoh and Abdul Fatawu handed the Porcupine Warriors the advantage as they welcome Coton in Kumasi on Sunday.
