Asante Kotoko National Circles Council Vice President Obeng Sekyere says it was a good decision to allow Burkinabe International Songne Yacouba leave the club for free.

Yacouba is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract on April 2,2020.

The forward had demanded $150,000 from the Ghanaian giants to extend his contract which was rejected by the club.

Asante Kotoko Executive Director,Dr Kwame Kyei told supporters the club could not afford the wage demands of their star man.

Yacouba was later dropped to the bench as his contract issues drag on with the club.

Speaking in an interview on the player’s departure and why the club failed to pen him down to a new deal Obeng Sekyere said, “In a cost-benefit analysis of Yacouba's demands, it was not going to benefit Kotoko .

“The latest I was gathering has to do with the number of years and the amount he's demanding”.

According to reports in the local media Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC, Aduana Stars, Hearts of Oak have contacted the player for a possible transfer.

Songne Yacouba was instrumental for Asante Kotoko during their CAF Confederation Cup campaign in 2018.

He scored two goals and registered five assists in the competition.
