Kyerefamso, (Ash), March 8, GNA - Burial took place at Kyerefamso near Asante Mampong on Saturday of the late C. K. Yeboah, formerly the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The President of the GFA, Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi was among the large number sports directors, officials, coaches, footballers and fans clad in their mourning cloth who joined the family at the cemetery for the burial.
Nyantakyi had to travel from Yamoussokro in La Cote D'Ivoire where he was with the local Black Stars to pay his last respects to the Regional Chairman who died on January 30, 2009, at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi after a short illness. Also at the grave side were members of his colleague Lodgers, Match Commissioners, Referees Associations Old Stars, sporting Clubs, Physical Education officers and executives of the GFA and the RFA. The GFA in a tribute said the Association and for that matter football has lost an illustrious colleague who devoted the better part of his life to the promotion of the sport in the country. It said the Association would forever remember him for his invaluable contributions to the development of football in the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole.
The tribute of the Ashanti Regional Executive Committee also noted that the Late Yeboah popularly called "Coach or Teacher" was a versatile footballer who was elected the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Association in 1996, a position he held until his death. "He is a kind-hearted man, jovial, generous and full of advice", the tribute indicated. The Ashanti Regional Match Commissioners' Association also said they have lost a father, a good leader and a trainer. They said he was simple, gentle, approachable and a considerate man.
Before the burial, the Body was laid in state at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi where a memorial service led by Apostle Samuel Otoo, Ashanti Regional Head of the Redemption Hour Ministry was organized for him. After the Burial the final funeral rites was held at the Heroes Park in front of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The Late C.K. Yeboah, who died at the age of 70, was a Regional Trainer for Match Commissioners, former Sports Master of Technology Senior High School, a former Coach at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and National Swimming Coach.
