Ahead of the game, signals from the camp of Hearts of Oak had indicated that the Phobians were going to stay away from the match-day-VII game because of a purported court injunction on the league restraining the FA from going ahead with the matches.

A supporter of Accra Hearts of Oak, Emmanuel Otu Quaye is reported to have filed a suit against the Ghana Football Association, seeking an explanation from FA over some provisions in the new draft to register players.

This was after the Phobians attempts at registering Charles Taylor and Ishmael Addo for the league was quashed by FA.
