AshantiGold coach Charles Akunnor is defiant of picking maximum points against league leaders WAFA in the Ghana Premier League week 20 at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.

The former VfL Wolfsburg captain has turned the fortunes of the Miners in the second round of the campaign after winning five consecutive games to lift the club 13th on the log.

But speaking ahead of their clash with WAFA, Akunnor expressed his upbeat about his side’s chances in the game during an interview with Graphic Sports.

“Our match against WAFA on Sunday is a tough one because we will be playing against a side with quality players who have been playing as a team with much confidence. But our players have recognized how important this match is, and considering our recent chain of victories, including that against Hearts of Oak, AshGold are adequately motivated to deliver on Sunday,” assured Akunnor said.

“That is why our supporters have to fill the stands in their numbers to offer us their unflinching support to win massively against WAFA.”
