Former Medeama SC midfielder was on the verge of signing for Kumasi Asante Kotoko after a short stint with the Kumai based club until the move hit a snag.
Conney Idan and his management opted for AshantiGold SC due to delay in negotiations between him and Asante Kotoko. Conney excelled in the G6 tournament when he featured for Asante Kotoko in December 2016.
The player was willing to sign for Asante Kotoko but delay in negotiations saw an abrupt end in their negotiations. “I trained with Kotoko for a couple of weeks, the club was signing players but i was overlooked” Conney said in an interview with Angel FM.
“I had contact from several clubs but I decided to join Ashantigold SC. I signed a 2 year contract last week” Conney added.
“I know there is a rivalry between Ashanti Kotoko and Ashgold SC but that doesn’t scare me. I have no idea of paying Kotoko in their own coin for not signing me” Conney said.
“I really appreciate the love the fans of Kotoko showed me when I was there, It’s unfortunate I didn’t sign for them but I’m happy to join Ashantigold SC”
