Ashantigold defeat Wa All Stars

Obuasi, May 5, GNA - Obuasi Ashantigold defeated Wa All Stars 3-1 in their penultimate Glo Premier League match played at the Len Clay Stadiu, Obuasi on Wednesday. Ashgold are now comfortably ahead on the League Table with 53 points and are certain for the trophy after 14 years wait. The home team went into attack right from kick off and piled pressure on the visitors but their attempt was short-lived.

All Stars counter attacked and succeeded in taking the lead in the 22nd minute when Nathaniel Asamoah's shot beat keeper Fatawu Dauda. Ashgold's Fred Quayson was however on hand in the 32nd minute to level up the score for the Miners to end the first half at par. When the second half resumed it was Ashgold who came out full of fight as They bombarded the All Stars goal area on several occasions with the defence of the visitors unyielding.

Aminu Mohammed however made victory certain for Ashgold when he scored two quick goals in the 80th and 84th minutes respectively to send the packed stadium into wild jubilation amid songs of victory. Ebenezer Adjei of All Stars was shown the red-card by Referee Thomas Nunoo for a second bookable offence in the 85th minute but that did not change the score line before the final whistle. 05 May 10
