Hearts of Oak suffered their first defeat of the season after losing 1-3 at home to Ashantigold in match day two of the 2018 Ghana Premier League on Saturday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The Phobians conceded the first goal in the 10th minute after James Akaminko struck home after the Hearts of Oak failed to clear the ball from the danger zone.
Hearts of Oak pushed for the equalizer but they failed to hit the back of the net, and their most notable chance in the first half came in the 39th minute when Joseph Esso shot wide instead of beating goalkeeper George Owu.
Fifteen (15) minutes after the break, Amos Addai doubled the Miners lead with a sublime finish.
The Phobians piled pressure on the away side and Esso pulled one back with a neat finish in the 75th minute.
On the 89th minute, Ashanti Gold put the game beyond the reach of the Phobians with the third goal through Shafiu Mumuni.
The results leave Hearts of Oak with just one point from two games following their opening day 1-1 draw with Eleven Wonders last Sunday.
