Ashiagbor wins Kim Memorial Golf

Accra, Oct. 16, GNA - Captain Anthony Ashiagbor (Rtd), Captain of the Bok Nam Kim Golf Club, returned an impressive 58 net score, to win this year's Bok Nam Kim Memorial Golf Championship played at the Bok Nam Kim Golf Course at the Air Force Mess in Accra on Saturday. Ashiagbor, who played 37 Back and 33 Front with a Handicap of 12, will now be playing to a new Handicap of 10.

Samuel Aboagye took the second position with 62 net, Emmanuel Teye Mensah placed third with 64 net, beating Group Captain Gyimah Kwakye on count-back, while Group Captain E. K. Asante came fifth with 65 net.

Bernice Allotey came first in the Ladies category with 67 net, Eunice Adzakpo placed second with 68 net, while Esi Cobbinah came third with 76 net.

The one-day competition, which was sponsored by Afko Imex Limited, attracted more than 50 golfers. Air Vice Marshall Eddie Mantey, Patron of the Bok Nam Kim Golf Club, said the club had acquired additional 64 acres of land to expand the Golf Course from nine-hole to 18-hole and asked the members to take active interest in the activities of the club to enable the club to develop the land.

Mr Soon Chul Chun, Managing Director of Afko Imex Limited, said the company would forever sponsor the competition to memory of the late Mr Kim, who single-handedly sponsored Ghana's contingent to the 1988 Olympic Games held in Seoul, Korea. It was Mr Kim's leadership as the Managing Director of Afko that the company built the Bok Nam Kim Golf Club, he added. Mrs Kim, Chairperson of Afko Group of Companies on behalf of the company, presented a cheque of 10 million cedis to the club.
