Accra, May 10, GNA - Attoh Quarshie Gym emerged the dominant force during the week five tournament of Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (League) which came off last Friday at the Prisons Cantonment.
The James Town-based gym saw their products coming out tops in five bouts during the 14-bout contest.
Isaac Sackey, Daniel Amarteifio, Emmanuel Quarshie, Eric Ameshikor and King Paul won their respective bouts to move their gym places up the standings. Sackey recorded a unanimous decision over Emmanuel Quartey of Fit Square in the Bantamweight clash while, Amarteifio knocked out Mohamed Tijani of Rangers Gym in the second round.
Welterweight Quarshie accounted for Emmanuel Zatey of Fit Square unanimously while Ameshikor handed severe beatings to Thomas Azure of Billy Kotey Gym to stop him in the second round.
Azure, who tasted his second bout since joining the pugilist profession few weeks ago bled profusely through the nose forcing the referee to end the bout prematurely.
In the Middleweight division, Paul beat Saviour Tetteh of Fit Square unanimously, with the latter ending the bout with a swollen cheek. Fit Square followed closely with four wins despite presenting majority of boxers,- eight- on the bill.
Samuel Yaw Addo defeated George Addy of Will Power Gym via a unanimous decision in the Flyweight division while, Jessy Lartey maintained his impressive with a similar feat on Musaraman Lawson of Wisdom Gym in the same division.
Nii Ofoli Tetteh overcame Bright Ayala of Wisdom Gym courtesy a unanimous win while Michael Asabela was handed a surprising split decision victory over Akotoku Gym's Sampson Dzaku.
Square Deal Gym's Sulley Mathias had the easiest of wins after his opponent Michael Pappoe was disqualified for growing beard in their Featherweight clash.
In other bouts, Habib Mohamed of Wisdom Gym outclassed Emmanuel Martey of Square Deal in a Middleweight contest, thanks to a split decision while, Emmanuel Mensah outshone Emmanuel Quaye of Wisdom unanimously in the Lightweight division. Abraham Afful of Ashaiman Gym stopped Akuffu Aweneh of Bukom Gym in the second round of their welterweight clash.
