Augsburg name Baba price

Baba Rahman Baba Rahman

German side Augsburg say they will not entertain €20 million offers or below for Baba Rahman.

Chelsea and AS Roma may now have to reconsider their valuation of Ghana’s Rahman if they are very keen on landing him.

The young defender, who features for Augsburg in the German Bundesliga, seemingly looks unlikely to be sold this summer as club president Klaus Hoffman claims the club are in a healthy situation.

The Augsburg chief, in fighting talk, has however suggested probably only a mega offer for Baba, one of Europe’s top talents, may lure the club to consider selling the 20-year-old they signed from lower tier side, Greuther Furth.

“We will certainly not sell Baba for €20 million.

“We are a perfectly healthy club, Baba is one of the top talents in the world. Anyone who wants to offer us a number like €20 million, they can save the cost of the call,” Hoffman is quoted by SportBild.

A few weeks back the English champions were reported to be preparing a £20 million [€28 million] offer to land the budding left-back who Augsburg secured for €2.5 million a little over 12 months ago.

AS Roma were also recently reported to have even tabled an €8 million offer through sporting director Walter Sabatini. There are other clubs like Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester City who have previously been linked to the Ghana international but his latest valuation could deter them.

Baba Rahman is contracted to Augsburg, who have qualified for next season’s Europa League, until June 2019.
