Augustine Okrah rescues point for Al Hilal in Sudan

The Ghanaian scored his fourth goal in three matches to prevent the visitors from achieving a historic victory

Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Okrah was on target on Friday night as Al Hilal rallied from behind to share the spoils 1-1 with Al Ahli Wad Medani in the Sudanese Premier League.

After lack of goals in the first-half, the visitors found a breach in Hilal’s defence and took the lead three minutes after the break through Koffi Kwame. The bulky striker latched onto a pass from a teammate, controlled beautifully, and fired past the hosts’ goalkeeper for the opener.

However, Okrah brought Hilal level on 60th minute through a penalty, after Nigerian Azeez Shobowale was brought down. The former Ghana Premier League topscorer stepped up and sent his kick beyond the reach of the goalkeeper despite diving to the right direction.

Okrah admits he is happy scoring in his last three games after recovering from a shoulder injury but worried with the scoreline.

“It is a disappointing performance because we had to settle for a draw. I am a bit worried,” Okrah told Herosportsgh.com

“We would have to improve in our subsequent games or else, things will be difficult for us in the end. I have scored four goals in my last three games but I can’t be satisfied, I need to do more to help the club achieve success,” he added.

Okrah scored a brace against Al Arab a fortnight ago before securing a point for a 10-man Hilal last week against Al Shorta in a six-goal thriller.

Ghanaian striker Abednego Tetteh could not play part of the game for Hilal due to the suspension

Hilal are first on the log with 30 points, four points above city rivals Al Merriekh, who have two games at hand.
