Avoe, Wiredu-Minta shake off injuries

Owvein, Delta State, Nov 6, GNA 96 Yaa Avoe and Anita Wiredu-Minta have shaken off their knocks that ruled them out of the Black Queens game against the Democratic Republic of Congo ahead of the Ghana 96South Africa semi final duel at the African Women's Championship on Tuesday.

The duo begun progressive training today and are expected to feature in the game which the Queens must win to pick one of the two slots for the FIFA World Cup slated for the Republic of China in 2007. Avoe is expected to start the game against the Bayana Bayana that is billed for the Oghara Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The defender who relinquished her place to Ama Saabi in the last game as a result of an injury is expected to start this game that is considered as one fit to pass as a grand finale. Wiredu-Minta is however expected to come off the bench if her replacement, Sheila Okine's performance in the game against DR Congo is anything to go by.

Meanwhile, skipper Adjoa Bayor and petit defender Mavis Danso are expected to undergo light training today to enable them shake if a few pains here and there.

Whilst Bayor has complained of a sharp pain in the right heel, Danso has a similar experience behind the knee.

Both players went through heating therapy on Monday morning and are expected to start the game tomorrow.

The Queens will be hoping to beat the South Africans tomorrow to enable them take a go at the trophy the Super Falcons of Nigeria have won four times.
