Avram Grant is a 'very lazy coach' - Nana Agyemang

Former Okwawu United and Eleven Wise Coach, Nana Kwaku Agyemang has slammed Black Stars coach Avram Grant describing him as a “very lazy” coach.

According to the outspoken football analyst, Grant’s excessive stay in Europe is the reason for his inability to identify and invite quality locally based players for Black Stars friendly matches.

His comments come after the Israeli trainer named Gideon Baah and Phil Ofosu Ayeh in his initial squad for last Tuesday’s friendly against Canada, but the former Chelsea boss had to replace other players, who failed to secure visas, with two Ghanaians in the MLS – Kwadwo Poku and Lloyd Sam.

Agyemang opines that Grant would have been able to settle on a number of home-based players from the Meteors or Black Satellites if he had spent more time on the local scene to monitor the league.

“What he is doing is that we look abroad, and that is not the way forward. What plan can you have when you spend the majority of your time outside of the country that you coach?

“You have got to be here and have your feet on the ground looking at the Meteors and all the options that are available.

“Swarming around Europe when he should be doing the job in Ghana is not good enough,” Agyemang told Henry Asante on Centre Stage on Starr 103.5FM.
