Avram Grant reprimands Andre Ayew for late arrival

The Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Kudjoe Fianoo, has revealed that Head Coach Avram Grant felt disrespected by Andre Ayew for his late arrival at the team’s camping base in Spain and was unhappy with the Marseille winger.

Ayew’s late arrival in camp was because he was called back from Accra by Marseille to honor the club’s French Cup match against Grenobles on January 4, where he scored, but could not save his side from crashing out.

“The Coach (Avram Grant) was not happy with Dede’s late arrival. He felt the youngster had disrespected him. The Coach had an arrangement with the players and stated that he did not want to feature Dede Ayew in the pre-tournament friendlies,” Fianoo told Accra-based radio station Happy 98.9FM.

The 25-year-old midfielder arrived in the Black Stars camp on January 7, one day after the team touched down in Seville after boarding a chartered flight from France.

The Deputy Black Stars captain will be making his fifth appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations after featuring in the 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013 editions of the continental championship.
