Awal Mohammed unfazed by Boye's return

Awal Mohammed insists he is unfazed by the return of John Boye to the Ghana squad for this month’s 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Uganda and Togo.

The Maritzburg United defender is likely to resume his bench-warming duties for the Black Stars with the return of first choice option.

Awal played in the last two qualifiers for Ghana but only due to the absence of Boye who was recovering from injury.

With Turkish-based John Boye recalled to the Ghana squad for the games against Uganda and Togo, Awal is likely to return to the Black Stars bench.

But the 26-year-old remains confident he has an equal chance to start games for Ghana despite the return of the preferred John Boye.

“I’m not worried about Boye’s arrival, he is a senior player and I respect him a lot, the starting line-up will depend on the coach so I’m just hoping to see what comes out,” the ex Asante Kotoko defender said.

“We are all Black Stars players so we have to have a positive mentality for each other because we are all fighting for one goal.”

Boye is expected to partner Jonathan Mensah in the heart of the Ghana defence for the games against Uganda and Togo on November 15 and 19 respectively.
