Ayew: I wasn’t happy at Marseille

Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has disclosed he was sad about his bench warming role at Olympique Marseille and is optimistic the loan switch to Sochaux will make him happy now.

The 22-year-old had minimal first team game this season at the Stade Velodrome forcing him to spend the rest of the term with Herve Renard’s side.

He described the loan move as “a big relief” because “it came to the point where I was no longer motivated to play football. It became really critical.”

“It was difficult for me to come here because Marseille did not want to but I did my best to come,” the Ghana international said after sealing the deal at Sochaux. “I had other opportunities but I preferred Sochaux. I think it’s a good challenge for me and I wanted to stay in France.”

“The most important thing is that I am happy, that's what I was missing. I can go home and have a smile... At Marseille I didn’t have. Today I hope I’ll have it. This is the most important thing for me to be happy,” the forward who was linked with West Ham expressed.
