Ayew: We’ve got to halt PSG dominance

Olympique Marseille have not defeated PSG in the Ligue 1 Clasico since 2011, totalling seven losses and one draw against the Paris-based giants since then.

Both teams will lock horns once more on Sunday in a clash that could decide the title race. PSG are currently topping the table with 59 points, two ahead of Les Phocéens, who sit in the third position behind Lyon on 58 points.

Marseille winger Andre Ayew believes his side could break Les Parisiens’ winning streak in the Clasico come Sunday and leap to top of the table.

“PSG’s domination is frustrating. It is hard to accept that and now is time to stop their winning streak because the Ligue 1 Clasico is crucial in the title race. We also have an ego to protect as well as our supporters, who are even more important,” Ayew told l’Equipe.

“This is not our match. It is the match for the city of Marseille and the entire region. We have to be at our best in order not to disappoint our people. It is more important to our supporters than us as players,” he said.

The 25-year-old Ghana international admits that PSG are top favourites for the current Ligue 1 campaign but insists his team will go for broke to upset the French capital side on their visit to Stade Velodrome on Sunday.
