Ayew misses out on Marc-Vivien Foe prize

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew missed out on the Africa's Best Player Award in the French Ligue 1 known as the Marc-Vivien Foe prize.

The Olympique Marseille ace fell outside the top five in an award which was handed to Moroccan international Younes Belhanda.

The 22-year-old has been outstanding this season for Montpellier, which is on the verge of landing its first ever title.

He succeeds Ivory Coast star Ivorian Gervinho for his performances when Lille won the title last season

Belhanda edged out Marseille's Cameroon defender Nicolas Nkoulou and Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who plays for St-Etienne and was the joint top scorer at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The award was announced by Radio France International (RFI) and France 24 after a vote by some 35 journalists.
