Ayew urges Swansea to stay focus

Swansea winger Andre Ayew is elated by his team’s grueling 2-1 victory over Everton on Sunday and emphasizes the need to keep up the fighting spirit.

Ayew won a penalty and scored the winner as the Swans ground a win at Goodison Park under new coach Francesco Guidolin.

“It’s a very important three points,” Ayew said. “It was a very difficult game and we needed the three points to help us out of the situation we’re in.

“We know the second half wasn’t very beautiful on our part but we showed a lot of spirits. We stayed in the game until the end and managed to hold onto our one-goal lead.

“I think we kept our shape well and showed great character, which is important.”

Sunday’s victory was the second consecutive win for the Swans following 1-0 win over Watford at the Liberty Stadium last Monday.

“When you keep fighting and show desire, then sometimes, you get a little bit of luck on your side,” Ayew added.

“A few weeks ago, the chance at the end would have gone in. We need to keep this spirit. We’ve won two games and we want to go on a run now.”

Swansea currently sits 15th on the league standings.
