Ayew wins Man of the Match Award

Luanda, Angola, Jan. 20, GNA - Andre "Dede" Ayew emerged as the Orange Best Player of the Match when the Black Stars played

Burkina Faso on Tuesday in the last match of Group B's game played at the 11th November Sports Stadium, in Southern Luanda. Ayew was Ghana's lone goal scorer that pushed the nation to the quarter finals of the competition as he worked tirelessly

throughout the entire duration of the game.

The midfielder expressed his delight at the award in a post match interview, saying it is a signal of great things to come his way. Ayew was confident the award will help change the negative perception of people about him, adding that he has for the past been

subjected to undue criticisms. The player indicated that he will continue to work hard for the progress of the team to also gain the confidence of Ghanaians. Ayew said he is looking forward to a more improved performance in the next game against Angola. He noted that even though they will have to play with a very formidable side with the backing of 50,000 home fans, they are sure of

winning to make further progress in the competition. The player said he had dedicated the award to his younger brother Jordan Ayew who also plays in France. Information gathered at Launda by GNA Sports has established that Ayew becomes the second player of the Black Stars to earn an

award at the tournament, with colleague midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah picking the Samsung Fair Play Award in the Ghana - Cote d'

Ivoire match last Friday in the Group B game of the 27th Africa Cup Nations in Cabinda.
