As the debate rages on in regards to who is Ghana’s greatest footballer of all time, legendary Ghanaian boxer, Azumah Nelson has named Abedi Ayew Pele as his greatest Ghanaian footballer ever to grace the green turf.
Famously known as ‘Zoom Zoom’ or ‘The Professor’, Azumah observed that Abedi Pele was an exceptional player during his players and exhibited immense love for his country through his games for the Black Stars.
Azumah, who was on Happy FM to talk about the Azumah Nelson Night of Boxing which is billed for April 1, extolled the commitment Abedi always showed whenever he was defending the national flag.
“Abedi Pele is Ghana’s greatest player of all time, in my view. I watched several players but he was an exceptional talent. He was a delight to watch and he always gave his best to the national team. His commitment level was awesome and you could see it through his games any time he was in the national jersey.” Azumah said on Happy FM.
Aside Abedi Ayew Pele whose name has come up prominently as a favourite to scoop the accolade as Ghana’s greatest footballer of all time, the hitherto unknown ex-Asante Kotoko play-maker, James Agyei has received astounding reviews from his peers, journalists and football administrators who saw him play.
The likes of Abdul Razak, Mohammed Ahmed Polo, Rev. Osei Kofi, Baba Yara and Aggrey Fynn have also had their names pop up as credible contenders for the ultimate accolade.
