Sunyani, (B/A) Jan. 10, GNA - B.A. United Football Club beat
city rivals Tano Bofoakwa 2-1 in the 93Zone 1B" Polytank Division
One Soccer match played at the Coronation Park in Sunyani on
Sunday. United led 1-0 at first half through Abubakar Sulley in the 13th
minute.
The two Sunyani-based former Premier League Clubs started
the match cautiously under the command of Referee A. A.
Alhassan of Tamale. Six minutes into the game, Sulley managed to penetrate the
defence of Bofoakwa but with only goalkeeper Anthony Asamoah
to beat the striker shot over the bar. Undeterred, strongly-built Sulley and other colleague attackers,
Ebow Andoh, Williams Agyei, Joseph Cobbina and Edward Ekow
kept the pace of the attacks and this paved the way for Sulley to
grab the opening goal for United in the 13th minute.
Almost immediately after conceding the goal, Bofoakwa
manaed to turn the tide in their favour but Emmanuel Gyamfi who
was at an advantageous position to score in the 17th minute
surprisingly missed the target. On resumption of the second half, Bofoakwa played a better
game and could have won the day but were deprived of the victory
due to some bad decisions by referee Alhassan who denied Bofoakwa with about four clear penalty chances. Bofoakwa conceded another goal through a spot kick taken by
United's Edward Acquah in the 65th minute. In the 76th minute, Emmanuel Ansah of Bofoakwa scored a
consolation goal for his side through a penalty. Earlier on Friday at the same venue Union Rovers beat Unity
F/C 2-1.
