Badminton team focused on excelling at Commonwealth Games

Not even the temporary setback of threat of withdrawal from next month's
Commonwealth Games, has affected the preparations and determination of
Ghana's Badminton team ahead of the competition. Ignatius Elletey, Secretary
General of the Badminton Association of Ghana, BAG, wouldn't comment on the
purpoted withdrawal, instead he tells SportsInGhana.com that he has not
wavered in his duty, and is focused on ensuring that they return from India
with medals for the nation. "Mine is to prepare my athlete towards the
championship. and so far so good, the players are determined, hardworking
and hoping to win laurels," Mr. Elletey told SportsInGhana.com in an
exclusive interview. The General Secretary is not the only one confident of
the success of Team Badminton when they decend on Delhi for the GAmes which
begin on October 4. Coach of the side Frank Shamo adds that the preparation
has been far better than previous yearsand is convinced they will return
with medals based on the current trend and performance of the team in their
various competitions in Africa. "Any competition we go to compete in, we
bring medals. The determination is high, the higher the comepetition, the
higher our improvement," Coach Shamo told SportsInGhana.com. He added:
"These players are the best quality we have so far in the country and they
are responding to discipline, are punctual and very competitive, I promise
that we will bring medals. The Badminton team has been in residential
training camp rounding up preparations with six players in total, 3 males
and 3 females scheduled to make the final trip to India to represent
Ghana. Ladies
Captain Theresa Tetteh who first participated in the Commonwealth GAmes back
in 2002 and has gained massive international experience and exposure over
the years, says they are ready to make Ghana proud. "We are focused on
training and our preparations have been smooth. Now all we have to do is to
