Badminton team preparing for Africa preliminaries

The National Badminton team has commenced preparations towards the Thomas and Uber Cups Africa Preliminaries.

The tournament is scheduled for Mauritius and will commence on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, and it is a qualifier for the World Men and Women team Championships finals in China, in May this year.

The winners of the male and female teams will represent the continent in the finals.

Ghana will be represented by nine players and a coach.

According to the Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG), the Male team will have; Daniel Sam, Michael Sam, Emmanuel Donkor, Abraham Ayittey and Michael Opoku-Baah, with the female team made up of Diana Archer, Stella Amasah, Gifty Mensah and Grace Annabell Atipaka.

According to the Association, the team will be accompanied by coach Godwill Ntarmah.

The tournament will also earn Daniel Sam some points in his quest to qualify for this year's Olympic Games in Brazil.
