Accra, Nov 11, GNA - A Felix Baffoe brace over visiting Power FC on Thursday lifted Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals from the bottom of the Zone B eight-team table of the GT Premier league to end the uninspiring game at the Accra Sports Stadium with a final score of 2-1. The goals that eventually put Liberty back in contention, also ended the youngster's worrying goal drought that has characterized his play this season.
The two teams sold out a scrappy game but it was Baffoe who managed to set the near empty stadium cheering with satisfaction when he raced above his marker, Douglas Nkrumah on the right flank before squeezing the ball past goalkeeper Abubakar Suleman through the first post on the 15th minute mark'
The game was reduced to mid-field action after both sides fought to gain supremacy.
Power however managed to slightly tilt the clock in their favour and made few incursions to give their vociferous fans an understandable optimism to chant for the equalizer which finally came through a well-taken free-kick by Moses Abban.
Abban received appreciable applause for his admirable kick which was taken on the edge of the penalty box in the 26th minute mark after advancing bulky Awudu Adama was fouled.
Liberty's reaction was swift, a situation which made Boffoe's second goal five minutes later a matter of course. The player gifted from an aerial scramble to consolidate Liberty's lead for the maximum three points.
Both teams played a much-improved second half game but their efforts were not enough to change the outcome of the match till the referee's whistle for the end of the day's proceedings .
