Ex Ghana striker Baffour Gyan has been granted bail by a Kumasi court after pleading not guilty to two charges of assault against journalist, Daniel Kenu.
The elder brother of Asamoah Gyan, captain of the Black Stars was brought to court on Monday afternoon alongside their manager Samuel Anim Addo who is also standing trial for the same offence.
The accused persons are alleged to have assaulted the Kumasi correspondent of the Daily Graphic a day before the Black Stars took to the field against Uganda in their opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The alleged assault is said to have been in response to an inappropriate question posed by the journalist at a press soiree organized by the Ghana FA last Wednesday.
Baffour Gyan and Samuel Anim Addo however pleaded not guilty when the two counts of assault was read to them in open court.
Counsel for the accused persons pleaded the court to grant bail while the prosecutor objected and pressed for legal custody.
In the end, after listening to the arguments advanced by the opposing lawyers, the court granted GHS 30,000 bail to the accused persons and adjourned the case to September 12.
