Accra, Sept.25, GNA - Bahmed Travel and Tours have presented a cheque for 20 million cedis to the Ghana Prisons Services to prepare its teams towards the Ninth Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) Games slated for the El Wak Sports Stadium from October 31 through to November 5, this year.
Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, Chief Executive Officer of Bahmed Travel and Tours made the presentation on Friday during the 80th Course of the training of Prisons officers, which also marked the 25th anniversary of the Junior Officers Mess of the Service at the headquarters in Accra. He said a similar presentation would be made to the host, Ghana Immigration Service and the Police Service before the games. The Security Services would compete in five disciplines - athletics, basketball, volleyball, hockey and handball.
The Games which, started in 1987 to foster unity among the various security services, took an 11-year break due to unexplained reasons since 1992 was reintroduced in 2003.
The Ghana Armed Forces, which would be hosting the 10th edition, would be defending, the male and female soccer trophies, tennis (male), tug-of-war (male) and hockey (male) at this year's game.
The SESSA games has produced some high-profile sportsmen and women over the year's, including Azumah Nelson (Prison Service), Mike Ahey (Armed Forces), Mercy Addey and Cynthia Bortey (Fire Service) and Hanah Afriyie (Prisons Services).
