Bahmed strikes a new deal with Supporters Union

Accra, Feb. 20, GNA - Bahmed Travel and Tours, agents of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday, entered into an agreement with the Ghana Supporters Union to provide air transport at a reduced price to about 1,500 people to trek to Germany to cheer the Black Stars during the Summer World Cup.

A detailed package is scheduled to be announced by the travel and tour company prior to the June 9-July 9 tournament to make the trip less cumbersome.

Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, Chief Executive Officer of the company called on soccer authorities to fight for more tickets to be allotted to the country saying that the current 9,000 tickets were not enough. FIFA late last year, allotted 9,000 tickets to Ghana but the GFA decided to give 5,000 to Ghanaians resident in the country and the rest to those in the Diaspora.

This, Alhaji Bandoh told a press conference in Accra was not a fair representation and urged the authorities to lobby for the number to be increased.

The leaders of the Union who included Abraham Boakye, President, Kofi Baidu, vice and Anim Obri, Spokesman at separate interviews with the GNA Sports expressed delight at the new deal and called on corporate Ghana to help beef-up the package from Bahmed. Alhaji Bandoh on Friday urged world soccer governing body, FIFA and the European Union to bring pressure to bear on the Germany Embassy in Ghana to review its visa acquisition procedure to enable a lot more people to travel and support the Black Stars during the Summer World Cup.

He said the current requirements were discriminatory against third world countries particularly those from Africa, which, if not reviewed could deny a lot of prospective travelers the chance to go and support their national teams.

The Embassy in Accra warned late last year that acquisition of tickets was not a guarantee that fans could automatically be given visas.
