Banahene scores for Ismaily in league debut

Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Osei Banahene scored on his league debut to hand Al Ismaily a vital 1-0 away to Petrojet on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old struck in the 84th minute in what eventually proved to be the winner for the Yellow Dragons.

Banahene has carried his impressive off-season form into the resumption of the Egyptian top flight.

The former Heart of Lions hitman was signed by Ismaily as the substantive replacement for compatriot John Antwi who has been sold to Saudi Arabian club Al Shabaab.

Ismaily have now climbed to 5th in the Egyptian league – just a point adrift a top four spot.
