Banku vrs Powers ring arrives in Accra today

The ring donated by broadcast sponsors Supersport will finally be ready for clearance at AFGO Accra Airport at 8.30 am sharp on Monday.

The ring has been donated by Africa’s leading pay TV channel to offer the sport in this country a professional stage to hold big fights beginning with Thursday night’s eagerly anticipated Cruiserweight non-title bout between Ayitey Powers and Bukom Banku.

It was in initially billed to land in Ghana last week but had to be postponed due to a decision to have the flooring designed and installed in South Africa contrary to earlier plans to complete that phase of its development here in Accra.

According to Box Office Sports Promotions who are in charge of this much awaited clash, both boxers will be present to inspect the ring before it is convened from the airport to the Accra Sports Stadium where it will be mounted for the bout that will be aired live on Supersport to an estimated audience of over 4 million viewers across Africa.

Allsports.com.gh sources indicate that the ring is set to depart South Africa on Sunday night en route to Accra where it will land by daybreak.

“Ring to stage Banku versus Powers fight will be ready for clearance at AFGO Monday 8.30 am. Supersport have got clearance for the media to cover so all are invited,” promoter Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye told Allsports.com.gh exclusively.
