Barclays Bank Ghana has launched a new promo aimed at assisting government achieve its objective of having a cashless economy by the year 2030.

The promo dubbed Super Fans Fanzone seeks to reward customers of the bank who transact businesses with their debit and credit cards for the next four months and maintain a deposit of GHC5000 with the ultimate winner being flown to England to witness a live Premier League.

The launch which was held at the Accra Mall on Friday, November 9, 2018, was attended by Arsenal and France football Robert Pires, Ghanaian football legend Augustine Arhinful and a host of distinguished personalities from Barclays Bank Ghana and the football fraternity.

The head of Marketing and Communications at Barclay Bank Ghana, Cyril Nai mentioned that his outfit which is the official bank of the English Premier League is leveraging on the passion Ghanaians have for football particularly the EPL, to enhance the use of debit and credit cards by Ghanaians.

He explained the reason behind the invitation of the two-time Premier League winner is to make Ghanaians have a feel of the passion they usually attach to their respective Premier League clubs.

“Robert Pires is a legend of the English Premier League and World Cup winner with France. Basically, we know what Ghanaians are passionate about and football is one of the things we are passionate about especially the EPL. We being official banking sponsors of the EPL, we are bringing Pires for people to have a feel of the passion we always see”.

Cyril also revealed the reason behind the promotion which is to get customers of the bank conduct daily businesses with their credit and ATM cards as the country pushes for a cashless community.

“What we are actually trying to drive is to actually get our customers and general public to come in and use their cards to make payments and win fantastic prizes. We are driving a campaign to get our customers to use what is more convenient, that is using your card to pay. We also want to promote what government is targeting which is a cashless society”, he concluded.
