The Basake Holy Stars Football Club has secured qualification to feature in the Ghana Premier League for the first time in their history next football season.
Basake Holy Stars FC finished first in the 2023/2024 Division One League Zone Two with 56 points to secure qualification to play in the Ghana Premier League. New Edubiase FC finished second in the zone with 54 points.
Basake Holy Stars FC is based at Basake community in the Ellembelle district of the Western region. CAM park at Nzema Aiyinasi is their home venue.
The team joined the division one league zone two in late 2021 and has qualified to the Ghana Premier League in three years.
"Vision FC were the first team to qualify for next seasons league having finished first in Zone Three.
"Unlike last season where the newly promoted sides had two returnees, Heart of Lions and Bofoakwa Tano with Nations FC making their debut, the current newly promoted side will be making their debut in the 2024-25 Ghana Premier League," a statement from GFA read.
Vision FC, Young Apostles FC and Basake Holy Stars FC are the three division one league teams that will feature in the 2024/2025 Ghana premier league season.
The premier league season is expected to commence on Friday, September 6, 2024.
In Basake Holy Stars FC's zone, Young Red Bull and Vipers of Cape Coast in the Central Region have been relegated and if Karela United is relegated from the Ghana premier league to division one league zone two, Nzema Kotoko in Ellembelle district will be relegated from division one league zone two to second division.
Some fans of Basake Holy Stars FC at Aiyinasi CAM Park commended the club president, Simon Ehomah, for investing in the team for the team to qualify.
They expressed their happiness and thanked the players and the technical team for dedicating their energies to help the team to qualify for the premier league.
"We are very very happy because we are going to watch Asante Kotoko, Medeama SC, Accra Hearts of Oak, Aduana, Samatex 1996 at Aiyinasi CAM park, God bless Hon. Simon Ehomah for investing so much money in his team for the team to qualify to replace Karela United in Nzema here, we happy, the players and their coaches have done well," they expressed their excitement.
On his part, the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah who donated GH¢2,000 to the team and promised to donate another GH¢5,000, commended the team for qualifying to feature in the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League.
He described the team's qualification as historic and said it would boost economic activities in the Ellembelle district and other communities in Nzema as a whole.
He pledged his total commitment to support Basake Holy Stars FC to survive as he did with Karela United before they relocated to Tamale.
He, therefore, took the opportunity to appeal to companies such Ghana Gas Company, Adamus mining company, ENI and others to renovate the CAM park for the team and also support them to survive.
Basake Holy Stars FC played its last home game at Aiyinasi CAM park on Sunday, June 2, 2024 against King Faisal FC and won by 1-0. The goal was scored by Abdul Bashiru in the 13th minute of the first half.
Basake Holy Stars FC will hold its coronation game on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Aiyinasi CAM Park against Rospak FC of Tarkwa where the GFA president will present the trophy to the team.
